FISHING FOR SHARK OFF THE COAST OF MONTAUK
Fishing with John is a 1991 cult TV series directed by and starring actor and musician John Lurie, who actually knows absolutely nothing about fishing. In each episode, Lurie takes a famous guest on a fishing expedition. The interest is in the interaction between Lurie and his guests, all of whom are his friends. In the first episode, Lurie battles sharks with Jim Jarmusch off the tip of Long Island. The soundtrack is by Lurie, who also is the head of The Lounge Lizards as well as a recognized painter. TYPE IS IMAGE
You can spot the poster above around the city these days. It announces the free performances at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, as every New Yorker knows. This long-standing tradition has joined esteemed artists with audiences from all over the world to celebrate Shakespeare and other classic works. As famous as the plays is the designer of the posters Paula Scher, Partner at Pentagram. Also check out the lovely alpha doodles she did for moleskin as well as the video Type is Image, which outlines her way of thinking and designing.
TWO BROTHERS TO START A CHOCOLATE REVOLUTION
The Mast Brothers are the city’s only bean to chocolate makers. They buy cacao from small family farms and coops around the world. What comes out, is a handcrafted, supposedly very delicious chocolate. Unfortunately I will probably never taste the chocolate I bought, since I’m getting my kicks just from looking at the pretty packaging…

CHEESE AND GOAT MILK SOAP
On a stroll on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg I stumbled upon a cheese shop with a remarkable choice of assorted cheeses from all around the world. They even sell cheese from the Hoch-Ybrig in Switzerland. However, I did not buy any cheese but was fascinated with the variously scented goat milk soaps they had on display. I guess it was that cute label that made me go for it.
