You might think now: Oh yes, I know this one already. It’s a classic. But since it’s such a great soundtrack I could listen to all day long, I thought it needs to be listed here.
In case you don’t know Super Fly: The story takes place in Harlem in 1972. It’s about a black drug dealer who is trying to quit the underworld drug business. The film is directed by Gorden Parks, whose desire was to show the negative and empty aspects of the drug subculture at the time. Super Fly is known for its soundtrack, written and produced by soul singer Curtis Mayfield. It’s probably one of the few films ever that have been outgrossed by its soundtrack that is widely considered a classic of 1970s soul/funk.
